Daniel D. Clark Elected as Washington State Bar Association Treasurer │ Aug. 5, 2019
SEATTLE [Aug. 5, 2019] — The Board of Governors of the Washington State Bar Association has elected Daniel D. Clark to serve as treasurer for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. He was elected unanimously by the board at its July 26-27 meeting. It is notable that Clark will be one of the first governmental attorneys to serve in this position.
“Serving as District-4 Governor on the Board over the last two years has been and continues to be a truly amazing experience, and I have been blessed to serve with so many talented and dedicated fellow WSBA members,” Clark said. “I am extremely honored to serve as WSBA treasurer, and humbled by the confidence my fellow governors have indicated through their unanimous decision. I have spent my entire career serving the public and taxpayers of Yakima County through working with and learning from elected officials and department heads, including the Yakima County treasurer, budget director, and auditor. I’m looking forward to using the strong financial and budgeting skills that I’ve acquired during my career to work collaboratively and respectfully with the WSBA Budget and Audit Committee and staff to develop the bar's FY 2021 budget in service to my fellow 40,000 lawyers and legal professionals.”
Clark was elected as District-4 Governor to the Board of Governors in July 2017 to serve a vacancy and was subsequently elected in 2018 for a full term, which is currently scheduled to run through September 2021.
Since 2002, he has served the taxpayers of Yakima County. Clark is a senior deputy prosecuting attorney with the Yakima County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Corporate Counsel Division. His legal practice includes providing legal representation to various Yakima County department heads and elected officials in civil and ad valorem taxation litigation matters. He also assists deputy prosecutors and law enforcement in criminal prosecutions and civil real and personal property forfeiture matters. In addition, he is the legal counsel for the Southeast Aging and Long-Term Care Council of Governments, an entity comprised of eight counties that provides important services under the Older Americans Act for the elderly and those in need of long-term care. Previously, he worked for Yakima County Superior Court, where he served as a judicial law clerk for Hons. James Hutton, Michael E. Schwab, Robert N. Hackett, and C. James Lust.
Born and raised in Yakima, Clark received his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Central Washington University, graduating magna cum laude, and was honored as a Dean’s Scholar in the College of the Sciences. He earned his J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law, where he graduated cum laude. He is a proud Gonzaga law alumnus and an avid Zags basketball and Seahawks fan. Clark has also provided numerous hours of pro bono legal services throughout his career and has participated in various pro bono legal service events and clinics in the Yakima County area and through community service projects the Board of Governors has conducted.
Clark’s term as treasurer begins on Oct. 1, 2019, and ends Sept. 30, 2020.
