International Women's Day Presentation

At noon on March 8, the World Peace Through Law section will commemorate International Women's Day with a presentation on the work of the Mukwege Foundation, which fights global sexual violence. The presentation will take place over phone, at the free call-in number listed below.

We invite all WSBA members to join us in this important conversation.

“An Introduction to the Work of Dr. Denis Mukwege and his Fight to End the Use of Rape as a Weapon of War.”

Bio: Marissa Pledger is originally from Denver, Colorado. She graduated from the University of San Diego with a degree in International Relations. Following this, she worked for the United States Peace Corps as a health volunteer in Senegal for two years. She currently works as a trainee for the Dr. Denis Mukwege Foundation. She began her work with the foundation about a year ago as an intern. She is also in her final semester at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland. With the foundation, she primarily assists with the promotion of Panzi’s holistic model of care for survivors of sexual violence in conflict and the facilitation of the global survivor network/movement.
